The city is only 10 minutes away from Nasr City, and 30 minutes from Downtown Cairo. The city also lies close to El Shorouk and Obour cities, and it’s the closest city to the New Administrative Capital.
A City in the media spotlight
Badr City is the first modern city in Cairo, it has been around since 1984. Yet, it was still pretty neglected for over 30 years.
The reason for this general negligence is probably because this city was only regarded as emergency accommodation. This feeling came to people since the city assigned some of its buildings for those affected by the 1992 earthquake, along with those affected by torrents.
Things have definitely changed since the implementation of the New Capital was announced, the most important development project in Egypt’s history and the one that will change the urban map as we know it. This is obvious since all ministries, government departments, embassies, some universities, and other important services are all being transferred from Cairo to the New Capital.
Badr city, being the closest city to the New Capital has caught the attention of both the people and the media, and quite rapidly grew in both population and size.
This, of course, caused the prices to increase. To know more about the latest and updated prices in Badr City, you can follow the Real Estate Prices Index for Badr City.
Latest News About Badr City
Getting this much attention has led Badr City to increase not only in population and size, but in apartment prices as well, and it makes perfect sense since it became the perfect alternative for those who want to live in the New Capital.
Even with the increase of apartment prices, one meter in Badr City is almost 80% cheaper than a meter in the New Capital.
The start of work in the New Capital came amid a delay in the receiving of some units in Badr City, particularly in the social housing units.
Rumors pointed out that this delay was caused by the country transferring contractors and building equipment from Badr City to the New Capital. Nothing backed this up, however, which leads us to believe this delay was in fact caused by the increase in the prices of building equipment, after the increase of dollar prices.
