The main reason for building the New Capital is to try to ease the congestion in Cairo, one of the most populous cities in the world. Experts expect the population of Cairo to increase from 18 million to 40 million by 2050.

The New Capital is expected to provide much of Egypt’s economy with jobs, investments, and developments, ease pressure on the busy capital, and enable the New Capital to attract people to live there. Many sources of economic attraction are being established, including a New Administrative Governmental District, a cultural district, and many civilized neighborhoods. All these districts, with their projects and companies, will be a great source of attraction for the labor force of all kinds.

The new city lies 45 km east of Cairo between Greater Cairo and Suez Canal near the regional ring road and the Cairo-Suez road.

It will also include an amusement park 4 times larger than Disney Land and 90 kilometers of solar energy farms, as well as an electric railway linking the new capital in Cairo and the new International Airport.
